We, the undersigned musicians, artists, and cultural workers, call on you to publicly oppose Canada's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 until Israel is excluded, and to advise your members not to participate in CBC/Radio-Canada's selection process.
The 2027 contest, to be held in Burgas, Bulgaria in May, will proceed with Israel's participation intact. The European Broadcasting Union has refused to revisit its decision to allow Israel to participate. Five countries, including Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland, withdrew from the 2026 contest over Israel’s participation as it continues its genocide in Gaza. Ireland's RTÉ called participation "
unconscionable given the ongoing and appalling loss of lives in Gaza" and has not changed its position for 2027. In an
open letter by the group No Music for Genocide, more than 2,100 artists worldwide, including Brian Eno, Roger Waters, Peter Gabriel, and Massive Attack, have called for a
Eurovision boycott.
