Another Chicago Magazine: Submission Portal

Another Chicago Magazine accepts fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art, translations, poetry book reviews, prose book reviews, forthcoming book excerpts, and work for our Palestinian Voices and Ukraine series. We love work that is personal and political and shows that you can write beautifully and incisively about important subjects, whether global or specifically domestic. We want work that had to be written now. You may submit once to each genre per submission window. Work submitted in the wrong genre will not be considered.

Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky to stay up-to-date on our recent publications, submission windows, and contests.

✶ Simultaneous submissions

We accept simultaneous submissions. If your work is accepted elsewhere, please let us know.

✶ Nominations

We enthusiastically nominate for annual prizes and anthologies, including Pushcart, Best American Essays, Best American Short Stories, Best of the Net, and the PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize.

✶ Previously published

Outside of excerpts for our Forthcoming Books series, we do not accept previously published work.

✶ Timelines

We will review your submission and be in touch with a decision within 90 days after the submission window closes. If you'd like to inquire about the status of your piece after that, please use this form. Please address your inquiry to the respective genre editor.
