All you need to get started with film photography

This custom 1:1 workshop is tailored to your learning style and creative pursuits.

Suitable for absolute beginners and those with past experience who want to brush up on skills and reignite their creative spark ✨

Here's the plan:

We'll meet at a cafe to kick things off with an introduction to the analog process and discuss natural light, composition, manual camera settings, and loading 35mm film. We move at your pace and diver deeper on topics that matter most to you. Plus, you'll take home with a custom workbook of creative prompts and film tips.

Before we meet, you'll choose two themes you want to explore such as street photography, portraiture, or the art of noticing. I'll plan our photowalk route around your request so, Amsterdam becomes your personal photography playground for the afternoon.


After you've shot and developed your roll, we'll reconnect for our 30-minute follow-up call to review your negatives, answer questions and discuss worked or what to try next. This mentorship call is only offered to participants in the 1:1 workshop.

During our creative session, you'll receive individual attention while covering the basics of film and the opportunity to choose two themes for deeper focus, plus a 30-minute mentorship call to review your negatives.

Meet your instructor

Lily is a travel writer and photographer with over 20 years of experience shooting film. Her work has been published in Lonely Planet, Fodor's Guidebooks, iAmsterdam, Tripadvisor, and more. She teaches photography workshops at Doka107 darkroom studio and hosts Femmes & Thems Film Club in Amsterdam.
