Black Feminist Collective is a repository powered by an intergenerational and transnational group of Black feminists and womanists. The mission of this independent, volunteer-based site is to nurture the writing, artistry, and scholarship of Black feminists and womanists who have a shared commitment to these creative and liberatory avenues of self-expression. Since May 2017, we have archived speeches, interviews, personal reflections, resource lists, visual artwork, poetry, scholarly works, cultural reviews, and analytical essays. Editorial curation; Curate content and/or brainstorm content to publish on our website, including interviews, resource lists, etc.

Co-organize the BFC Creative Lab, a safe, collaborative space to foster agency over our creations, language and integrity, constructive conversations about our work and challenging our inner critics.

What would you like to do on Black Feminist Collective’s social media/communications team?

Boost other organizations’ work via Instagram stories and grid posts.

Design social media graphics via Canva.

Schedule updates about new content published to our website, and other announcements (including our “Call for Submissions”) via Instagram grid posts/reels and Substack Notes (requires login to BFC’s Substack and Instagram accounts).

Manage our quarterly newsletter on Substack (requires creation of your own Substack account if you don’t already have one)

Review newsletter submissions and answer questions people might have about submissions.

Collaborate with the team on themes and reflection prompts for each quarterly newsletter.

What would you like to do on Black Feminist Collective’s outreach team?

Volunteer Coordination; reviewing submissions of potential volunteers who complete the “Join the Team” interest form; holds virtual onboarding/introductory meetings to further discuss their interest, and coordinates them with editorial or social media/comms teams.

Volunteer Coordination; screening potential collaborators who complete the “Request to Collaborate” form; holds onboarding/introductory meetings to further explore collaborations.

Event coordination/moderation; organizing and/or hosting virtual events, interviews, workshops, teach-ins, etc. for the BFC community that exist as archives on our website.
