Full Stack Engineer Lead
We are founder-led and at our size that means you're in the room with them, on the calls, in the decisions, shaping the product and the pitch. As one of our first 50 employees, you'll play a crucial role in building on our culture rather than inheriting one. We argue to learn, not to be right. We ship fast, because working beats perfect. When we lose, we learn from it; when we win, we win together.
Your title is where you start, not where you stay, and there's room to grow into the work you're drawn to. Our team is 50/50 men and women with over 12 languages spoken.
If that sounds like your kind of team, we'd love to meet you.
We seek an exceptional engineering leader with high technical competency and intellectual curiosity to lead our team. This is a player-coach role: you will write code every week, and you will also own the architecture, the standards, and the growth of the engineers around you.
To succeed, you must enjoy thinking in systems and possess some combination, but not all, of DevOps, data engineering, or ML/data science experience at scale. Most engineering roles at Wisy are customer-facing, and as the lead you'll be the most customer-facing of all — you must have the soft skills to design and articulate well-engineered solutions to ambiguous problems, in the room with a customer's CIO.
• Own the technical direction of the platform — mobile capture, on-device and server-side inference, data pipeline, and application layer. You decide what we build, what we buy, and what we retire.
• Write code. This is not a role that stops shipping. Expect meaningful hands-on contribution, especially on the hardest parts of the system.
• Set and enforce the engineering bar: code review standards, testing, observability, incident response, and release process. Build the discipline that lets a small team run a production system enterprises depend on.
• Grow the team. Hire engineers, run the interview loop, onboard, mentor, and give direct feedback. You'll be the technical voice in hiring decisions and the reason good engineers stay.
• Own the complete lifecycle of what the team creates — development, testing, operation, maintenance, and support. Ownership doesn't end at merge.
• Continuously leverage AI tools to improve your own and the team's productivity ("building AI with AI"), and set the standard for how the team uses them well.
• Work directly with customers — technical discovery, architecture reviews, security and InfoSec questionnaires, integration design. You'll represent Wisy's engineering to enterprise buyers and their IT organizations.
• Partner with the founders on roadmap, sequencing, and the honest tradeoff conversations about what we can actually ship and when.
What we value:
• Deep expertise in data engineering, ML engineering, or data science — e.g., integrating LLMs into products, fine-tuning models, creating evaluations, or hosting AI/ML infrastructure at scale.
• Professional experience in DevOps, security, and cloud infrastructure — we use GitHub Actions, Docker, and AWS CDK extensively.
• Systems thinkers who enjoy owning problems end-to-end.
• Leaders who multiply rather than gatekeep. The best technical leads make everyone around them better and are secure enough to be wrong in public.
Required skills:
• Extensive full-stack web development experience — Python, TypeScript, React, data structures, and AWS.
• Experience leading engineers. Formal management is welcome but not required; what matters is that you've set technical direction for a team, been accountable for its output, and grown people in the process.
• You've run production systems that customers depend on — on-call, incidents, postmortems, and the boring reliability work that makes enterprise software trustworthy.
• Owning problems end-to-end and picking up missing knowledge fast.
• Working effectively in a dynamic, intelligent team while upholding Wisy's values — engineering excellence, insatiable curiosity, bias for action, ownership, agency, honesty, radical candor.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with internal teams and customer stakeholders. You can write a design doc an engineer builds from and explain the same decision to a non-technical executive.
