Voice sample for your child's birthday tale
Thank you for ordering the complete set! Please follow our step-by-step guide to record the voice sample, then send it here. Only an adult (18 or over) may record their own voice. We use the sample only to make your child's one-of-a-kind book, and we delete the recording and the voice made from it once the book is delivered.
Step 1. Choose the voice: an adult in your family (18 or over) who agrees to it. Children's voices can't be used.
Step 2. Find a quiet place: a small room with curtains, a sofa or a bed (soft things stop echoes). Switch off the TV, music and fans, close the windows, and put the phone on flight mode.
Step 3. Get the phone ready: on iPhone open Voice Memos, on Android open Recorder (or Voice Recorder). Hold the phone about a hand's width (15-20 cm) from the mouth, a little to the side. Do a 5-second test and listen back.
Step 4. Read the text below slowly and calmly, the way you read a bedtime tale to your child (about 2-3 minutes). Only one voice on the recording. If you make a mistake, pause and re-read that sentence.
Step 5. Listen back: every word should be clear, with no loud noises (doors, dogs, traffic). If needed, record again.
Step 6. Upload the recording with the form below (the phone's normal file, e.g. .m4a or .mp3, up to 10 MB), answer the other questions and press Submit. You don't need to send us anything else.
Step 7. We make your child's one-of-a-kind tale in that voice. Please allow about 2 weeks. You will receive a private download link.
Once upon a time, at the edge of a quiet sea, there was a little white house with a blue door. Every evening, when the sun went down behind the hills, the sky turned orange, then pink, then purple. The fishing boats came home one by one, and the waves whispered softly on the sand.
In the little house lived a family who loved tales. After dinner, they would sit together by the window, and someone would ask, "Can you tell us a tale tonight?" And the answer was always, "Of course I can."
They told tales of heroes and gods, of giants and clever animals, of long journeys across the sea. Some tales were funny, and everyone laughed. Some were exciting, and everyone held their breath. And some were very, very gentle, so gentle that eyes began to close before the end.
Outside, the moon climbed slowly over the water. One star appeared, then two, then a hundred. The olive trees stood still in the night air, and an owl called once from far away. Hoo... hoo...
Do you know what makes a tale special? It isn't only the words. It's the voice that tells it. A voice you know. A voice that says, "I'm here. You're safe. Close your eyes."
So tonight, let's take a deep breath in... and slowly breathe out. Let's listen to the sea, and the owl, and the quiet of the night. And let's begin a brand new tale, made just for you.
Goodnight. Sleep well. Sweet dreams.
