State of the Industry - Drone Pilot Survey

There are over over 20,000 registered drone pilots in Australia. Asset Inspections are one of the most commonly used purposes for flying a drone.

Images taken from an asset inspection are used for condition assessment and/or to create 3D models using photogrammetry. Licensing and hardware costs, not to mention the learning curve required to effectively create a 3D model/digital twin can be a challenge for most drone operators, especially those that are starting out.

I am certified drone pilot myself and these are some of the challenges I faced, on top of finding consistent work to support myself.

This anonymous survey aims to understand how drone pilots operate across Australia (and rest of the world) and the insights will be used to isolate the current bottlenecks faced by drone pilots.
