Register your interest to the Workshop "Co-Designing an IPY Arctic Access Programme"

We are pleased to invite you to participate in a co-design workshop on a new International Polar Year Arctic Access Programme (IPY-AAP), taking place on 9 October 2026 during the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavik.

INTERACT is developing the IPY-AAP to support excellent research aligned with International Polar Year and ICARP IV priorities. Supported through the IASC Cross-Cutting Working Groups Call for Proposals 2026, the initiative aims to co-design an international funding mechanism for Arctic research, building on INTERACT’s 15 years of experience in facilitating access to Arctic research infrastructures. The workshop, “Co-designing an IPY Arctic Access Programme”, will convene representatives from IASC Working Groups, Indigenous Peoples’ organisations, early-career researchers, infrastructure operators, funding bodies, policymakers, and international science organisations to help shape the programme’s framework.

The workshop will take place on 9 October 2026 from 11:00 to 15:45 (GMT) at the Arctic Circle Assembly 2026 in Reykjavik (Harpa Conference Hall, Room Akrafjall). Please find the tentative programme here.
