Participation in LEAD Greater Williamsburg is open to persons living and/or working in the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance service area. If selected, you are expected to devote the time and resources necessary to complete the program. The Selection Committee seeks a diverse representation of the community from business, education, the arts, military, government, community and faith-based organizations, and ethnic and minority groups. Candidates need not have community leadership experience; however, expressed interest in the community service is essential. Class size will be determined by the number of and quality of applicants. Approximately 25-35 individuals may be selected for the program.

All applications and supporting documents must be received by the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance no later than 5 p.m. February 27, 2026.
To certify completion of LEAD Greater Williamsburg, a participant is expected to attend all the following sessions:
- Welcome Reception and Class Reception: May 20, 2026. An evening to meet your classmates, recognize sponsors, and receive an overview of the class.
- Class Orientation: September 9, 2026. A day to officially kick off your LEAD journey. Learn about the program, class project, expectations, and network with class members.
- Retreat: Sept. 24 & 25, 2026. A two-day, overnight meeting at Chanco on the James for team building and to begin brainstorming on the class project.-
- Nine full-day sessions (one full weekday each month), the second Wednesday, October 2026 through May 2027 for LEAD class sessions.
- An additional day in January 2026 for a visit to the General Assembly and legislators representing Greater Williamsburg.
- Class Debrief and Graduation: May 19, 2027.
- A class project that will require additional hours outside scheduled class meetings - anticipated to be 40-60 additional hours depending on the nature of the project
