Register for Future Interfaces Research Jam

Future Interfaces Research Jam "Comics as Research Interfaces" is a three-day online event by Comic Survey Lab, taking place as part of Berlin Science Week 2026.

We are bringing together researchers, students, designers, AI practitioners, UX professionals, comics scholars, artists, engineers, technologists and independent researchers to explore how comics and sequential storytelling can become research interfaces for Human-AI Interaction, survey design, participatory research and visual communication.

Event schedule

The event will be streamed live on YouTube. Registered participants will receive the livestream link, participation instructions, session sequence and any presentation or discussion queue details by email.

About Comic Survey Lab

Comic Survey Lab is an independent research initiative exploring how comics, sequential storytelling and visual methods can be used to redesign research tools. We investigate how surveys, interviews, workshops and other research formats can become more understandable, engaging and participatory when approached as visual and narrative interfaces.

Our work sits at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Human-AI Interaction, design research, comics, accessibility, survey design and AI-mediated tools. We aim to bridge the gap between academic researchers, designers, engineers, technologists and creative practitioners by creating spaces where new research methods can be discussed, prototyped and shared.

About Zenodo proceedings

After the Research Jam, Comic Survey Lab may compile selected discussion themes, ideas, lightning talk summaries and collaborative outputs into open proceedings and archive them on Zenodo.

Zenodo is an open research repository where outputs such as reports, papers, posters, slides, datasets and proceedings can be preserved and cited. Public archival means that selected outcomes from the event may become findable, shareable and accessible beyond the live session.

A DOI, or Digital Object Identifier, is a permanent identifier for a research output.

If your contribution is included in the proceedings, this may make it easier to cite, share and reference in academic, professional or portfolio contexts. This can be useful for researchers, students, designers, engineers and independent practitioners who want their research contributions to be visible and traceable.

We will ask for your consent before including your name, affiliation or contribution in any public proceedings.
