Myth and stigma and cultural differences and misunderstandings about the Autism Spectrum abound in Societies and Communities throughout the world, affecting not only the autistic persons themselves, but families, teachers and professionals are also impacted, struggling to flip their perspective from one of forcing normalcy into accepting and accommodating neurodivergence in its totality. Worldwide, there is a vast disparity as regards the accessibility and affordability of services for individuals with autism, adversely affecting quality of life and the chance of reaching individual potential. The World Autism Organisation (WAO), where possible aims to facilitate opportunities where better resourced service providers, professionals and families can share their wealth of knowledge, experience and support with those in seriously less fortunate situations.
