Remote Technical Interviews: Developer Survey

Remote technical interviews are changing fast.

AI tools can now help candidates answer technical questions, solve coding problems and even respond during live interviews. At the same time, concerns about cheating and candidate authenticity are growing.

This creates problems not only for companies trying to assess candidates fairly, but also for legitimate developers who may face more suspicion, invasive proctoring, or pressure to attend interviews in person.

We're exploring a different approach that could keep interviews remote while giving companies more confidence in the process.

This survey takes about 2 minutes. You can respond anonymously, and we're interested in what developers genuinely think, including if you think the idea is terrible.

Here's the idea we're exploring. See how it works in just 15 seconds.

Watch this quick example of the interview experience before answering the next questions.

Imagine the nearby professional location was arranged for you and the company covered the cost. How comfortable would you be attending your technical interview there, with an independent person verifying the agreed interview conditions?

1 = I definitely wouldn't do it 3 = It would depend on the circumstances 5 = I'd be completely comfortable with it

What, if anything, would concern you about attending an interview at such a location?

What would make you feel more comfortable using this kind of interview service?

If a company offered you the choice between travelling to its office for a final technical interview or using a nearby verified interview location, which would you choose?

Optional: What do you genuinely think about this idea?

This question is optional. What do you like, dislike, or think we're missing? What would you change to make this work better for developers? Feel free to be brutally honest.

Do you want to help shape the future of remote interviews?

We're looking for developers who'd like to stay involved and help us shape an interview process that works for candidates as well as hiring companies. We're also speaking with companies and recruiters about the same problem, so there may be opportunities to connect developers who get involved with hiring teams looking for talent.
