Volunteer Application — INIT 2026

Section 1 — Before You Apply

INIT happens on a 67-acre property on Mt. Tuam, Salt Spring Island — 400 metres above sea level, mossy old-growth forest, big views over Cowichan Bay. It's a small festival by design. Every person who shows up shapes what it becomes.

When we say volunteer, we mean it. This is not a shortcut to a free ticket. In return for your time and energy, you get full access to the experience — the music, the land, the people — and the specific satisfaction of knowing you helped make it happen.

Volunteers are required to commit:

Showtime volunteers: ~16–18 hours on-site
Pre/post-event volunteers: ~20–24 hours

Everyone on-site is required to purchase their own parking pass.

Parking note: If you are arriving before Sept 17 for pre-event or build shifts, you do not need a parking pass — gate operations are not yet running. If you are arriving Sept 17 or later, a parking pass must be purchased in advance on the INIT website.

Showtime & Post Event volunteers pay a deposit equal to 50% of a GA ticket price after acceptance — refunded in full once all shifts are completed. Pre-event volunteers (including Builders) do not pay a deposit — completing your shifts earns your festival access. No-show = no ticket.
