C/COCA Director of Operations Apprentice

Role Summary

C/COCA is seeking a Director of Operations Apprentice to work closely with the current Operations Director in preparation for assuming the role next year. This is a structured shadowing position focused on learning and strengthening the internal systems that keep the organization running efficiently. The apprentice will gain experience in process management, cross-team coordination, and executive-level communication within a growing student-led nonprofit.

Who we are

C/COCA is a newly incorporated nonprofit design and development agency dedicated to providing free, accessible websites and digital solutions to nonprofits and charities. We bring together students across disciplines to work on real client projects that emphasize usability, accessibility, and impact.

Alongside client work, we host professional development programming including portfolio reviews, resume workshops, and networking events with industry professionals ultimately helping students build skills, confidence, and career readiness.

You will gain hands-on experience in board governance, meeting documentation, accountability tracking, and structured communication, preparing you to transition confidently into the Director of Operations role.

Within a nonprofit context, operations require balancing mission alignment with limited resources and volunteer coordination. In this role, you will help build clear systems that improve efficiency, transparency, and sustainability. You will develop experience in governance, stakeholder communication, and scalable infrastructure skills that are highly transferable to nonprofit management, public service, and mission-driven leadership roles.

Responsibilities

Streamline and support internal processes and workflows to improve efficiency and clarity across teams.
Attend meetings and take structured, organized meeting notes to document decisions, action items, and follow-ups.
Coordinate internal and external communication across teams to ensure alignment and accountability.
Serve as an external point of contact by directing individuals outside of the organization to the appropriate board member or team lead.
Monitor and manage incoming email communication and escalate urgent matters when necessary.
Develop and distribute organizational newsletters in collaboration with the marketing team.
Help plan and coordinate C/COCA town halls to maintain transparency and engagement across members.
Support board recruitment logistics and internal documentation systems.
Commit approximately 1–2 hours per week to meetings, communication management, and operational follow-ups

Qualifications

Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Clear and professional written and verbal communication abilities.
Comfortable managing email correspondence and tracking multiple action items.
Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain structured documentation.
Must be Class of ’27 or later to allow for shadowing and leadership transition.
Interest in nonprofit operations, leadership development, and building sustainable organizational systems.
