Hello, My Name Is… (Brain Candy Magazine Issue #5)
Brain Candy Magazine is putting together a collaborative issue celebrating original characters and the people who want to meet them! You’re welcome to submit a Character ID Card, a Classified Ad for the back of the issue, or both.
How it works: Participants will create their own cards and/or ads, while we take care of the layout. We won’t be designing individual submissions, but we’ll provide an example to help guide you through the process. If creating something visual isn’t an option for you, don’t worry! We’ll also have an alternative available.
Submissions will be open from October 20th through November 30th. We can’t wait to see your characters and what you come up with!
This is how you’ll be credited in the magazine.
Where can people find you?
*
Toyhouse, Tumblr, Bluesky, Discord, your project’s site, etc.
What are you submitting?

Note: If you would like to submit both, please fill out separate forms!
Section 2: CHARACTER ID CARD
Paste a link or upload the image. Headshot, full body, and a simple layout are all fine. View an example of what you could possibly create below:
Tell us about your character in 1 to 5 sentences. Who are they, or what project are they from? We will use it as a backup if the image is hard to read.
Collabs, chats, roleplay, feedback, or nothing in particular?
Project name, if any (optional)
If your character is from a comic, story, or game, tell us the title.
Think newspaper headline. Example: “Co-Writer Wanted for Ghost Story”
1 to 3 sentences. Keep it short, like a real classified.
If you can make a small graphic, do it! View the example below for inspiration and paste a link or upload the image.
No visuals? Tell us your story’s vibe!
If you can’t make a graphic, no problem. Your ad will go in as plain text in a standard classified-style box. If you want, describe the general vibe of your project in a few words (cozy, spooky, chaotic, melancholy) and/or paste a link to a reference board or moodboard (Pinterest, Pureref, Google Drive, etc.). We will use it as a loose guide for color and font choice.
SECTION 4: FOR EVERYONE (Final Questions)
Does your submission include anything mature or sensitive (heavy violence, gore, etc.)? Choose No, or Yes and describe it below. Flagged entries will be reviewed case by case.

By submitting, you give permission for your character, art, and text to appear in Brain Candy Magazine with credit to you. Submissions are laid out as you send them, so double-check spelling and links before submitting!
