AIIMO: AI in Maths Oxford

A new student-led group exploring how AI is changing mathematical research and learning.

No knowledge of AI needed, just curiosity.

What we're planning

• Reading group: a short reading beforehand, then 60–90 minutes of discussion, research and debate, finishing with a short write-up
• Talks, open to everyone, from people working on AI in maths

Some ideas we're interested in

• How AI proves and checks maths, and tools like Lean
• AI as a research tool: finding conjectures, examples and counterexamples
• How AI is changing the way we do and learn maths
• The ethical implications of AI in maths, from attribution and credit to access

Questions we might ask

• If an AI finds a proof, who gets the credit?
• Can we trust a proof that no human has fully read?
• Will AI make mathematicians more creative, or less?
This takes about 2 minutes. Your email is only used for the mailing list, and only if you ask to join.
