Full Stack / Front End Developer

Wink, Inc. is a data intelligence leader in the life and annuity insurance industry. We are committed to modernizing our applications and providing our customers with efficient, data-driven insights. We’re seeking a talented and motivated Developer to join our highly collaborative team.
As a Full Stack / Front End Developer, you’ll play a key role in developing and enhancing the UI architecture of our applications. The ideal candidate will have complete, end-to-end ownership of projects, experience building products across the stack, and a firm understanding of Javascript / Typescript server-side frameworks, APIs, and databases like MySQL and SQL Server.
IMPORTANT NOTE:  This is a full-time W-2 position open only to candidates residing in the United States. Proof of U.S. residency is required (U.S. Work Permit, Green Card, or U.S. Passport). Although the role is primarily remote, the final interview will be conducted on-site in Des Moines, IA to meet with the team before a hiring decision is made.

Responsibilities

Frontend Development: Design and implement responsive user interfaces with modern JavaScript frameworks, primarily SvelteKit, as we transition our legacy applications to a more efficient and scalable platform.
UI Architecture: Contribute to frontend architecture decisions that align with our business goals, improving performance, maintainability, and user experience.
Database Interaction: Use server-side Javascript / Typescript framework and connect with SQL databases to retrieve and manipulate data as needed.
Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, following best practices and contributing to code reviews.
Problem Solving: Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance to ensure a smooth user experience.
Team Collaboration: Work in a cross-functional team environment with designers and other engineers to deliver high-quality features and improvements.

Requirements

Experience in Frontend Development: 3+ years of experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like Svelte, Vue, or React, with a focus on creating responsive and accessible UI components.
Knowledge of Server-Side Frameworks: Familiarity with server-side frameworks such as SvelteKit, NuxtJS, NextJS, Remix, for integrating frontend applications with backend services.
Frontend Architecture: Experience in building functional and effective platforms, with a focus on frontend architecture and design best practices.
Fluency in Core Web Technologies: Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with a solid understanding of responsive and accessible design principles and accessibility.
Database Querying: Basic to intermediate experience in querying MySQL databases, with a clear understanding of how to retrieve and present data efficiently within a frontend environment.
API Integration: Experience in designing and integrating RESTful APIs for seamless frontend-backend communication.
Debugging and Optimization: Excellent debugging and optimization skills, ensuring high performance and efficient resource use across different devices.
UI/UX Mindset: Appreciation for good UI/UX principles, and experience working closely with designers to bring mockups to life.
Version Control: Proficient with Git for version control and collaboration.
Lean/Agile Development: Experience working in a lean/agile development environment, especially with distributed or remote teams.
Communication and Organizational Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills; self-motivated and adaptable in a mostly remote work environment.
