Thankyou for your interest in being a Volunteer for the AWS Community Day 2026 (Vancouver, Canada & Toronto, Canada).
You can learn more about the event and its history at
www.AWSday.ca
The 2026 events will be held on May 1st 2026, at Vancouver Science World & Aug 29th 2026, at Toronto Northeastern University.
This will be the Third year we've run AWS Community Day in Canada with the 2024 and 2025 events being huge successes and the first for Canada.
In 2014 we started the Vancouver AWS Usergroup, with events every month, a member base of over 3,000 people and on average an attendance rate each month of 80 people with most events having long waitlists due to limited venue space. The same organizers put together the annual Cloud Summit
www.CloudSummit.ca. The Vancouver AWS Usergroup is the largest and most active AWS group in Western Canada. In 2025 we expand the team to include local Toronto superstars to put on AWS Community Day Toronto. With the leaders from the AWS Toronto Usergroup and many other local leaders they have been able to hit the ground running making use of the tribal knowledge, systems, documentation and tools that have been built over time by the Vancouver group. We also collectively put together
www.AWSUsergroups.com to help other groups across Canada and the world put on successful AWS Community Days using our templates and lessons learnt.
We've put together a brief FAQ below give you an idea of the task at hand as a volunteer. Thankyou again for considering contributing to the community.
FAQ
Will I be paid?
No, however we will provide food and snacks to all volunteers on the day and online recognition after the event which you can use towards bragging rights or to beef up your resume.
When will you need my help?
Only on the day of the event. Usually we will need you in-person at the venue 2hrs beforehand, for orientation and setup. The volunteer team lead will communicate to call volunteers before the day of the event, the exact run of day schedule, as well as bring the group together over a group chat leading up to the day.
Where is the event?
At the Science World for Vancouver and Northeastern University for Toronto.
Do I need any special skills or know Cloud Technology?
No, we have many fun tasks for everyone. And don't worry, all the stressful and gross tasks are taken care of by the building staff. Tasks for volunteers will involve things like being a greater, setup booths, and generally just make sure everyone is having a good time.
