Do you want health insurance that actually supports YOU instead of lining the pockets of its CEOs and Shareholders?

Luigi Mangione thrust the current state of US health insurance into the spotlight. The tragic death of UnitedHealthcare's CEO unleashed a torrent of pent-up anger, exasperation, and helplessness felt by many who struggle with denied claims, rising costs, and a system that often seems to prioritize profits over patients' health and lives.

As we confront these challenges, it's time to reimagine what health insurance could be.

We invite you to participate in a short survey that gauges the interest in a radically different approach:

A health insurance model:

- owned by its Members (you, the patient)

- actually focused on improving collective health

- ensuring affordability, and

- reinvesting profits for you (not the leadership and stockholder's pockets) with lower premiums or improved benefits

This anonymous 5-10 minute survey is your chance to drive meaningful change.

Your voice will advocate for a fairer, more responsive system.

Let’s turn frustration into action—your input matters.

This research is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) under Award #2337771 which aims to investigate the implementation of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs, essentially a co-op) in various verticals, including healthcare.
These anonymous survey results will be shared in the final report for the NSF Award, and the insights from the survey will be used to design and propose to the new Federal Administration an update to the Affordable Care Act CO-OP model.

Opinions on a Patient-Owned Non-Profit Health Insurance Co-op

There is a better fit for health insurance than being private (i.e.: shareholder owned) and for-profit:

A patient-owned, non-profit (i.e.: a cooperative, or Co-op)

“Patient-owned” means that the insurance company exists for the sole benefit of YOU, the patient, not shareholders/execs (like for-profit health insurance cos).

And, instead of profits for shareholders, profits are reinvested into the insurance company for YOUR benefit.

Co-ops are not new, they date back to the 18th century, there have been successful health insurance co-ops in the United States and globally, and the Affordable Care Act ("ObamaCare") enables Co-Ops (Consumer Operated and Oriented Plans).

The following questions gauge your interest in choosing a patient-owned non-profit health insurance.

If you had the option to join a Patient-owned, non-profit health insurance company, would you switch to them?
