Queer Folklore, Portal Q

You have entered the magical submission portal Q for Folxlore: a queer folklore anthology. The Queer community have their own folklore. This can be disrupted and removed when communities dissolve by oppressive forces. Usually, Queer Folx are the folklore, misconstrued as monstrous, to be feared. Let's take back our folklore, together. NOTE: this particular portal is for submitter who do not need feedback on rejected submissions. If you're a submitter needing feedback, wait until October 31st for portal F. STATUS: CLOSED TO SUBMISSIONS UNTIL SEPT 1. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
-Must answer all the questions in the submission form. Write n/a if the answer isn't applicable.
-We accept previously published content so long as you have the rights to republish it & include where it was previously published. Work posted on social media is not considered published and is welcomed. -Simultaneous submissions welcomed only if you note in advanced it's simultaneous. -We do not accept any AI-generated or AI-prompted, or any AI-created submissions. -Please credit Unicorn Teeth Magazine should you re-publish your work elsewhere. -Do not include your name in the content or title of the submissions. -You may submit a total of one interview, one poem, one fiction piece, one essay, and one unique form. Fiction must be a short story, otherwise there are no word nor page limits on any submissions. We will only accept Poetry, Fiction, Unique, and Essays written by queer folx for this theme. If submitting in multiple categories, upload files separately. Interviews: must be an interview with a member of the queer community on a folkloric practice. The interview can be conducted by someone outside of the queer community (an ally or academic or family member, as example). You must have written consent from the interviewee to submit the interview for publication. Include it at the top of your interview, clearly labeled, and italicized. Fiction: any speculative and nonspeculative genre. Poetry: experimental forms, traditional forms, and no forms are all welcomed. Essays: we're interested in the following kinds of essays for this theme: narrative essays, analytical essays, descriptive essays, cause and effect essays, book review essays, critical analysis essay.
Unique: a category where you don't quite fit into any. Could be hybrid or avant-garde. Either way, we're always wanting to see something unique!
Failure to adhere to the guidelines will result in an immediate disqualification. You'll receive a blank email entitled "disqualified from Queer Folklore" in that instance. AUTHOR AGREEMENT: A part of the Unicorn Teeth's mission is to provide opportunities for new editors to build an editorial portfolio and experience. In the instance your work has been accepted for publication, one of our editors will work with you on your manuscript with edits ranging from developmental edits to just copyedits/proofing. As the author, you will have final say on how the manuscript appears when published, meaning all editorial remarks are suggestions, not demands. At the bottom of the submission portal, you'll see an option to grant permission for editors to keep a PDF with suggestions for their portfolio. You can decide at a later time to rescind your permission, or, if you particularly enjoyed working with an editor, you can grant them permission at any time during the editing stages. PRINTING AND PUBLISHING RIGHTS: Unicorn Teeth Magazine reserves archival rights for digital ebooks and print books. Rights works revert back to the authors upon publication. If you need to pull your work from the anthology (for a contest or whatever reason), let us know and we'll update. Unicorn Teeth Magazine cannot offer monetary payments for published works at this time. All published authors will receive both a PDF and an ePUB of the anthologies they are published in, and discounted print anthology for cost-of-production-only. Additionally, Unicorn Teeth Magazine will champion its authors on social media, the Iridian Jawbone blog, and online release parties/readings. BIGOTRY, SLURS, AND/OR HATE SPEECH OF ANY KIND WILL GET YOUR SUBMISSION(S) IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED: Please note Unicorn Teeth Magazine has a zero-tolerance policy on white supremacy, colonialism, bigotry, ableism, discrimination, and queerphobia, ai prompted, inspired, or generated works. This is explicitly a magazine that believes in the rights and liberation of all indigenous peoples, including Palestinians. If you oppose the "land back" movement and other forms of discrimination, it is highly recommended you don't submit materials to us to avoid your work being removed from publication. We reserve the rights to pull any work from a submitter that is an advocate of harm and hate. Any messages attempting to contest this will also be blocked and blacklisted. Unicorn Teeth Magazine is NOT going to debate if people should have rights. FUNDRAISING: Proceeds from the anthology will be given to Safebow, an organization dedicated to evacuating people from genocide and war zones.
