BookBreak K-12 School Author Talk Program Waitlist Signup for High-Poverty Schools - Due September 30, 2026

This form is only for high-poverty public elementary, middle, and high schools (grades K-12) that wish to join the waitlist for free access to the program. High-poverty schools are those where 80% or more of students qualify for free or reduced meals (FARMs). If you don't know if your school qualifies, please click "Next" below for directions to look up your school's free and reduced meal percentage. Schools must sign up for the waitlist by September 30, 2026 to be considered for the 2026-2027 school year.
If your school does not qualify as high-poverty and you are interested in learning more about BookBreak for your school/district, please email becky@bookbreaks.org for more information.
About BookBreak:

BookBreak brings 2-4 bestselling authors directly to your students each month via livestream, offering an exciting opportunity for them to hear from top authors in their grade level. Each event is tailored to a specific age group, such as: •K-2nd Grade •3rd-5th Grade •6th-8th Grade •9th-12th Grade Each grade cohort will have the chance to hear from an age-appropriate author at least once a month throughout the school year. They are designed as a short “brain break” for teachers or librarians to share with their classes and there is also the opportunity for student Q & A. Plus, recordings of each event will be available on our platform for easy on-demand access at any time.

As part of our vision to provide access to as many school communities as possible, we have created a Buy One Give One program. We will gift a free BookBreak account to a high-poverty school for each school that subscribes to the BookBreak program.
Schools will be notified by Oct 15, 2026 whether they have gained access to the program or must remain on the waitlist.
Additional Notes:
High-poverty schools (80% or greater FARMs) will be selected to come off the waitlist based on how many schools in their state subscribe to BookBreak through our Buy One Give One program. We expect far more schools to be on the waitlist than available spots for at least the first few years of the program. We reserve the right to select schools off the waitlist based on many factors including the order they signed up for the waitlist and to ensure a diversity of high-poverty schools around the nation are gaining access.
This waitlist is only for public schools (including public charter schools). High-poverty private/independent schools cannot gain free access to the program at this time although we hope to open it up to those schools in the future.
If your entire school district qualifies as high-poverty, please have each individual school sign on for the program with a school contact. You cannot sign up an entire district for the waitlist with one entry.
High-poverty schools are welcome to join the program as a regular subscriber rather than wait on the waitlist if their budgets allow. This is advantageous when possible because it allows an additional high-poverty school to come off the waitlist.
