"The Community Poem Project"—one line at a time, by many voices
In a society that seems increasingly disconnected despite our hyper-connectivity, isolated despite the constant information flashing on our screens, we're still human—full of love, longing, joy, pain…"
"The Community Poem Project” invites you to contribute one line to a collaborative poem written by everyday voices across the country on themes of "connection."
Once the poem grows large enough, it will be transformed into a physical exhibit displayed in a public space, stitching strangers' words together for passersby to see and add to, a reminder of interconnectedness and being human.
Excerpts:"Connection feels like listening with all your being." "I love being seen for who you I am." "I hope to walk at night and not be afraid." "I love the sound of birdsong in the early morning before the city rises." "I miss hugs." "I need more time to be still." "Connection is saying hello to a stranger."
What does connection mean to you? What do you need? What do you love? What do you hope? What do you miss? What do you carry? How do you feel?
