About The Community Poem Project: Every day we pass strangers on the street carrying stories, memories, thoughts and feelings that we never hear. The Community Poem Project reminds us that , despite increasing disconnection, we are still human, full of love, fear, hope, grief, joy…Bringing people's words into public spaces allows us to recognize ourselves in one another. The Community Poem Project invites YOU to contribute one line to the collaborative poem by everyday voices across the country. Once the poem grows to 500 lines, it will be transformed into a public art installation. This participatory art project highlights a sense of belonging, community and humanity, weaving together hundreds of voices across geographic and personal differences, private expressions becoming a public collective for passersby to read, reflect, and add to. A reminder of interconnectedness and being human.
