Mr. Masa / Masa-sensei is a graduate of Toho Gakuen School of Music with a major in composition. He studied composition under Teruaki Suzuki, Masahiro Ishijima, and Jun Nemoto. He also studied sacred music at St. Gregory House, Institute for Religious Music, under the late Veronica Chikako Hashimoto.
Having spent his high school years in Palmerston North, New Zealand, he later travelled to various countries during and after university, researching traditional music and music education across cultures.
In addition to classical music, Masa-sensei has a deep knowledge of diverse musical cultures such as Celtic, Arabic and traditional Japanese music. He plays a wide range of instruments including piano, violin, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, and oud.
In the field of music education, he has played a key role in launching a music school with over 700 students, serving as head of curriculum development and school director. He has composed, arranged, and conducted works for children’s choirs and full orchestras. With over 1,000 students taught through both individual and group lessons, from age 1 to adults, he has extensive experience in personalised music education.
Currently, he teaches music in both English and Japanese through international school classes and private lessons. As a music concierge, he offers custom music composition, concert planning, and inbound cultural music guidance — providing comprehensive, tailored support for all things music.
