The Carbon Copy Book Club Copie carbone - le club de lecture

Why? Working on solving the climate crisis asks of all of us to stay curious and engaged in the midst of fast-paced changes. When pursuing impact and results, it can become hard to take time for reading, thinking deeply and exchanging ideas with peers. Carbon copy book club aims to connect climate change professionals, give us a structure to read more widely about climate change and provide us the opportunity for a feel-good reset:  take a step back, a deep breath, and give into our love for books, together.
How?
We will:

- Read a new book every 6 to 8 weeks - Meet online to discuss the book - Start with a short summary of the book's main ideas - Spend most of the time discussing the book with peers, with the help of thought-provoking prompts

What? I hope that by participating, you will:

- Make a meaningful connection with someone new - See one piece (or many) of your work from a different angle - Feel nourished, refreshed and inspired
Which books? In 2026, we will read: The Carbon Paradox, by Renat Heuberger, Marco Hirsbrunner and Steve Zwick Next books to be confirmed - currently under consideration: Breakneck: China's Quest to Engineer the Future, by Dan Wang How big thing get done, by Ben Flyvbjerg and Dan Gardner Charged: A History of Batteries & Lessons for a Clean Energy Future, by James Morton Turner Taking a break from saving the world, by Stephen Legault The heat will kill you first, by Jeff Goodell Abundance, by Ezra Klein The next great migration, by Sonia Shaw The language of climate politics: Fossil Fuel Propaganda and how to fight it, by Genevieve Gunter Overshoot: How the World Surrendered to Climate Breakdown, by Andreas Malm and Wim Carton In 2025, we have read: Not the End of the World, by Hannah Ritchie Electrify, by Saul Griffith *Special edition: Value(s): Building a Better World for All, by Mark Carney* The Case for Climate Capitalism, by Tom Rand Ralentir ou périr (In English: Slow down or die), by Timothée Parrique Climate resilience for an Aging Nation, by Danielle Arigoni What if we get it right? by Ayana Elizabeth Johnson

Who am I?

Hey there! I'm Katherine. I work on climate change strategies, solutions and programs, and I'm an economist. I love to design tweaks - and strategize leaps - to existing systems for better climate outcomes, and I believe solving climate change will need all of us, connected, wired and engaged. I'm from Montreal, and I now live in Japan.
