OPEN CALL — Share your repaired textiles with us!

Es gibt unzählige Möglichkeiten Textilien zu reparieren – kunstvolle Stickereien, unsichtbare Änderungen, improvisiertes Zusammenflicken, pragmatisch gestopfte Löcher oder Notfallmaßnahmen mit Klebeband. Im Projekt Sustainability by Design der Folkwang Universität der Künste wollen wir Beispiele von reparierten Textilien sammeln.

Wir sind sehr neugierig, ob du auch ein repariertes Textil hast, welches du mit uns teilen willst. Ganz egal, ob du es selber repariert hast, es eine Auftragsreparatur, ein Erbstück oder ein Se­cond­hand-Fund ist, uns interessiert alles. Es kann beispielsweise Kleidung sein, Schuhe, eine Tasche, ein Vorhang oder ein Sofabezug.

Wir würden uns sehr freuen, wenn du dein repariertes Textil in unserer Sammlung zeigen möchtest. Dazu kannst du in diesem Online-Formular zwei Bilder von deinem Teil hochladen, sowie ein paar Daten steckbrieflich eingeben. Einreichungen sind bis zum 18. Mai möglich.

Die gesammelten Beispiele wollen wir gerne teilen, sodass möglichst viele Menschen die Möglichkeit haben, einen Eindruck zu bekommen, wie vielfältig reparierte Textilien sind. Deshalb werden wir ein Zine gestalten, indem diese Beispiele gezeigt werden und welches wir kostenlos online sowie als Printversion zur Verfügung stellen werden. Einen Eindruck, wie ein solches Zine aussehen kann, findest du in unserem bereits veröffentlichten  Zine Patch & Care. 

Darüber hinaus werden wir eine Ausstellung gestalten, mit der wir auf Festivals, Workshops, unserem Folkwang-Rundgang und anderen Events eine Auswahl der Beispiele durch Bilder zeigen. Selbstverständlich geben wir bei allen Einreichungen die Credits an.

There are countless ways to repair textiles – artistic embroideries, invisible alterations, improvised patching, pragmatically mended holes, or emergency measures with tape. In the Sustainability by Design project at Folkwang University of the Arts, we want to collect examples of repaired textiles.

We are very curious to know if you have a repaired textile that you would like to share with us. It doesn't matter if you repaired it yourself, if it was a commissioned repair, a family heirloom, or a second-hand find; we are interested in everything. It could be, for example, clothing, shoes, a bag, a curtain, or a sofa cover.

We’d be very happy if you’d like to showcase your repaired textile in our collection. To do so, you can upload two photos of your piece and enter a few key details using this online form.

Submissions are open through 18 May.

We would like to share the collected examples so that as many people as possible can get an impression of how diverse repaired textiles can be. Therefore, we will create a zine that will showcase these examples, which we will make available for free as an online and printed version. You can get an idea of what such a zine might look like by checking our already published Zine Patch & Care. 

Additionally, we will organize an exhibition, where we will present a selection of examples through images at festivals, workshops, our Folkwang Rundgang and other events. Of course, we will credit all submissions.
