The speaker

Dr. Gómez-Baquero serves as the Director of Runway and Spinoffs at the Jacobs Technion Cornell Institute, located at Cornell Tech in NYC. In this capacity, he aids postdoctoral entrepreneurs in establishing new-tech startups that leverage digital technologies across diverse sectors such as digital health, telecommunications, education, cybersecurity, and IoT.

With over 15 years of experience in the nanotechnology industry, Dr. Gómez-Baquero's expertise spans various areas, including the production and characterization of carbon nanotubes, as well as the development of polymer/nanotube composite materials. He is renowned for his leadership in fabricating nanoengineered electrodes for lithium-ion batteries using semiconductor processes, as well as for utilizing nanotechnology to enhance the performance of such batteries. Additionally, Dr. Gómez-Baquero has made significant contributions to nanomaterials research, exploring their economic impact and filing numerous patent applications across various nanomaterial applications.

Fernando Gómez-Baquero earned his Ph.D. in Nanoscale Science and Engineering from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University at Albany SUNY. His research endeavors have focused on advanced nanomaterials for energy storage applications, the economic implications of pervasive nanotechnologies, and the realm of tech entrepreneurship.
