Academic Minute Script Submission Form

Thank you for submitting to The Academic Minute.
The next step is to submit your script using this form.
300 words is a great guide, but the real target is one-minute and forty-seconds when you read it aloud at a comfortable pace. We’ve branded The Academic Minute as an outlet for research, so we have to avoid any language that will make the essay sound like an op-ed, personal narrative or commentary. Also, please do not mention publications or funders. We are happy to include them on the corresponding web post. We also ask that you not mention the name of the school in your essay. Our host will introduce you and the school in the corresponding host intro and outro. Co-authors are welcomed to be named inside the essay. Once your essay is approved, we will move on to the recording phase. Recordings can be submitted through our WeTransfer portal.

Faculty Bio

Faculty Title

Used in the host's on-air introduction. Please keep it brief — one primary title is best (e.g., “Associate Professor of Psychology”).
(If you hold multiple appointments or want to include additional roles, those can go in your full bio above that will be listed on the website.

Preferred Name for Host to Use

What name should our host use to introduce you on air?
(This might be different from your full legal or publication name — e.g., “Liz Smith” instead of “Elizabeth A. Smith.” Please write it exactly how you’d like it read aloud.)

Name Pronunciation

How should our host pronounce your name?
Please spell it out how it sounds — not how it’s spelled.
✅: MAH-duh-lyn Ray (for Madeleine Rae)
✅: REE-ah MER-chun-dah-nee (for Riya Mirchandaney)
❌: /ˌmæd.l̩.ˈeɪn/ or Merchandaney (like it sounds)
(Please keep it simple and phonetic!)
