Job application - Scientist I [Plant Tissue Culture & Cell Analysis]

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Plant Tissue Culture Scientist to join our team. This role is primarily focused on the execution and optimization of plant cell and tissue culture experiments, including maintenance of cell lines, callus propagation, and experimental workflows. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in plant tissue culture techniques and will play a key role in supporting the development and scaling of plant-based biotechnologies.

In addition to core tissue culture responsibilities, the candidate will also provide support for method development and cellular analysis, working closely with scientists on the team to implement and refine analytical protocols.

Here’s What You’ll do:

* Ensure consistent execution of experiments following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

* Monitor and report on culture health, growth, and contamination.

* Maintain accurate and high-quality documentation of experimental designs, protocols, results, and observations.

* Assist in the development and refinement of methods for cell morphology, viability, and wall composition analysis.

* Collaborate with scientists and lab staff to ensure smooth execution of experiments and continuous improvement of workflows.

* Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and knowledge sharing across teams.

Education and Qualifications: • BSc or MSc in Plant Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience with plant tissue culture, ideally in a research or industry setting. • Proficiency in tissue culture techniques, including:
Callus induction and maintenance
Somatic embryogenesis
Suspension cultures
• Experience in media formulation, sterilization, and additive testing.
• Familiarity with cell analysis techniques, including viability assays (e.g., Resazurin, TTC), microscopy, histology, and image-based analysis.
• Knowledge of cell bank development, cryopreservation, and line recovery is a plus.
