We don't require files in any specific format— just that you give us sufficient information about:
- taxonomic records (species codes, keys)
- observation date/time, and locations (site codes, coordinates, etc.)
- any other fields that might pertain to your sampling design (survey unit IDs, replicates)
If they're larger than 10 MB, please email us with an alternative access method.
We list 1-3 data contacts in the public data record if any future data users need to get in touch about this dataset. This is not the same as data authors/contributors who should be acknowledged for their work on the data.
You can find BioTIME's privacy policy and data protection statement here:

Because many datasets have been already published with their own data licence, we need to specify data licences in the metadata. These licences (e.g. CC0, CC-BY, etc) are legal copyright templates that describe how users can use and share your data. Creative Commons and Data Commons are the most commonly used, but we support other licences and conditions as long as they allow for sharing and use. If it's been published previously under a share-alike licence, the data licence should match with the original one specified.
