A Walking Residency in the Mountains of Sunnmøre, Norway
Dates: 24–31 August 2025
Deadline to apply: 18 June 2025
Artist fee: €1000 (travel, food, and accommodation covered)
Location: The mountains of Sunnmøre, Norway – starting at Reindalseter cabin
The Institute of Hiking is a new, experimental artist residency shaped by walking, presence, and shared time in the Norwegian mountains. No performance slot. No production deadline. Just movement, reflection, and connection.
We are inviting 5–6 artists from any discipline to join a week-long walking residency in the dramatic landscape of Sunnmøre. You don’t need hiking experience — just a willingness to walk, adapt, and travel slowly. We encourage applications from those who can travel without flying.
The residency is co-curated by Italian curator Lisa Gilardino and Høstscena Festival in Ålesund/Norway in collaboration with the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT).
All costs are covered, and participants receive an artist fee of €1000.
👉 Apply by 18 June 2025 using this form.
Final selection will be announced by the end of June.
