What's Gimbap, you ask?

Well, it's a glorious Korean roll of happiness. Officially, it’s called Gimbap, literally means “seaweed rice.” Imagine perfectly seasoned rice (bap), crunchy veggies, a bit of protein of your choice like ham, eggs or cheese, all rolled up in a cozy blanket of dried seaweed (gim). Then, it turns into bite-sized little treasures that are as fun to eat as they are to look at.

It’s like the Korean cousin of sushi, but with its own flair: sesame oil instead of vinegar, cooked fillings instead of raw fish, and the unmistakable vibe of a picnic in every bite.

In our game Gimbap, players become a speedy gimbap chef in the midst of a chaotic, ingredient-tossing race.

How to play Gimbap

Age: 8+ / 2-4 players / Playing time: 15min

In Gimbap, you don’t just play, you roll (quite literally). Instead of pushing cardboard chits or moving wooden cubes, you’re handling squishy foam rice, velcro-backed seaweed sheets, and soft felt fillings. Every ingredient feels real in your hands: the cheese bends, the spinach folds, and the pickled radish sits snugly in place.

Then come the Order Dice. They don’t just tell you what to place, but how to arrange it:

― “Keep the ham away from the gim!”

― “Spinach must touch rice!” ― “Cheese can’t sit at the edge!”

It’s a puzzle you can touch. You roll up your gimbap, press it shut with velcro, and proudly yell “Gimbap!” The tactile click of it sealing is as satisfying as winning a point token.

Every round feels like a mini cooking show in your hands.

It’s fast, it’s chaotic, and most of all, it’s deliciously tactile.
