We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware Development Engineer / Packaging Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and development of innovative hardware solutions, with an emphasis on packaging, thermal management, and mechanical design. 

Job Summary:

The Hardware Development Engineer / Packaging Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing hardware components and systems that support data center operations. This role focuses on the mechanical and electrical packaging of hardware systems, including advanced cooling technologies, PCB design, and overall physical layout. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet stringent performance, thermal, reliability, and manufacturability requirements in a high-performance computing environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

Hardware Design: Develop mechanical and electrical hardware designs, focusing on high-density packaging for data center environments.

Packaging and Thermal Management: Design advanced packaging solutions, including thermal management systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability in data centers. 

Prototyping and Testing: Create prototypes, validate designs, and perform rigorous testing for thermal, mechanical, and electrical performance. 

Integration: Work closely with system architects, electrical engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware components into larger systems. 

Performance Optimization: Optimize designs for high performance, low power consumption, and energy efficiency within a dense data center environment. 

Material Selection and Analysis: Select appropriate materials and conduct thermal and stress analysis to ensure reliability and durability of components. 

DFM (Design for Manufacturability): Ensure that designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and large-scale production. 
Compliance and Standards: Ensure all hardware designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements for data centers. 

Qualifications:

Education: 

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field preferred. 
Bachelor’s degree with exceptional experience and track record will also be considered on a select basis.

Experience: 

5+ years of experience in hardware development, packaging, or mechanical design, preferably in data centers or high-performance computing environments. 
Proven experience working with top-tier technology companies or innovative startups in building scalable infrastructure. 
Technical Expertise: 
Strong expertise in hardware packaging, thermal management, and mechanical design for high-performance systems. 
Proficiency with CAD software and simulation tools for thermal, stress, and structural analysis (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS, COMSOL). 
In-depth knowledge of PCB design, component packaging, and integration into larger data center systems. 
Experience with advanced cooling techniques such as liquid cooling, immersion cooling, or air-cooled systems. 
Familiarity with materials science, particularly with respect to thermal expansion, durability, and reliability in data center environments. 

Problem Solving: 

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and design innovative solutions. 

Leadership: 

Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, mentor junior developers, and work cross-functionally with teams. 

Preferred: 
Experience in designing hardware systems for hyperscale data centers or cloud providers. 
Knowledge of high-speed signaling and power distribution in dense computing environments.
