Program Outline
5 Week Online Program
Designed to allow participants to explore the potential of moving to Japan to work in design, and decide if it is right for them. We cover everything from industry trends, Japanese design techniques, the companies to work for and how to apply.
Structure

1x 90 minute live online session
1x homework task
per week for 4-5 weeks (Expect to spend 2.5 hours per week for one month)
Details
Module 1: Welcome & Overview
Get to know the organizers and other participants through Japanese icebreaker games. Get an overview of the program and create a personal goal.
Module 2: Japanese Design & Research
Learn how cultural differences impact UX design & research in Japan through case studies and comparisons of apps & web services in Japan & Western countries. Also experience how the high context nature of Japanese impacts interview techniques.
Module 3: Working in Japan as a designer/researcher
Meet Japanese and international designers working in Japan. Hear their stories before going into breakout sessions to ask them any questions you have.
Module 4: Job Market & Applications
Get the hard to find information about the best companies to work for, what sort of salaries to expect, and understand how to create an appealing application.
Module 5: On on one mentorship session
Review the progress you've made on your goal & create a detailed plan to achieve it. Get connected with companies or local designers based on your career goals.
