Mission Beach Planning & Mapping Workshop Expression of Interest (EOI)

What's this about?

With funding from Cassowary Coast Regional Council, this project will identify areas of local environmental importance to guide better planning, incentives and decision-making in Mission Beach. Read more about this project here.

We’re inviting community members to participate in the first of two practical, hands-on community workshops to shape how conservation and sustainable development can coexist in Mission Beach. We’ll use simple maps, discuss planning choices and incentives, and draw on local knowledge to set priorities. These workshops form part of a larger project that will map areas of local environmental significance, identify priority areas for protection and incentives, and ensure planning in the urban footprint reflects community needs.

When: Saturday, 8th November 2025 Duration: Workshop 1 will run from 8:30am - 4:30pm (lunch provided onsite); Workshop 2 will be held in March 2026.

Where: Ninney Rise, Mission Beach

How selection works

Workshop places are limited by the venue to 40. If EOIs exceed places available, we will use the information you provide in this form to prioritise:
Local connection (live, work, or strong ties to Mission Beach);
Knowledge, experience and motivation relevant to the project priorities (e.g., land use and management, conservation, planning, business, tourism);
Engaging a balanced room of people with diverse perspectives

If you are not placed in Workshop 1, you’ll still receive workshop materials and project communications which will include additional ways to be involved.
