Nature's Alchemy: The Four Elements of Corrosion
After the success of last year's macro/micro challenge, we are bringing a new perspective to our photo competition. This year, we move beyond technical scales and explore the fundamental forces that shape our materials. We invite you to submit your image into four categories inspired by the elements. Your photograph (whether a micro or a macro shot of corrosion) should represent the chosen category through its theme, visual atmosphere, and/or color palette. Let your imagination run wild!
WATER: Focused on marine environments, and/or the blue aesthetic of corrosion.
FIRE: High-temperature corrosion, oxidation scales, and the warm spectrum of glowing oranges, deep reds and blacks.
EARTH: Soil corroison, microbial influence, archaelogical finds, and the grounded textures of browns, ochres and greens.
AIR: Atmospheric corrosion, urban pollution, patina formation, and the soft tones of grey, white and sky-blue.
To enter the competition, please fill out the following form and upload your photo named in the following format: Surname_Category_PhotoName. Additionally, please include a short description (max. 100 words) explaining the image, its story, and why it fits into the chosen category. You may enter as many categories as you like, with a limit of one photo per category.
