Web Consultant Application - Business Toolkit®

I'm the CEO of The Business Toolkit, and I'm excited to share that we're growing our team. We're looking for a strategic, detail-oriented Web Consultant to join us full-time, remote.

You'd be the primary liaison between our clients and our internal team, taking web projects from first discovery call to final delivery — working alongside our developers and designers to turn business goals into clear plans, timelines and deliverables.

Core responsibilities

• Client communication & strategy — lead discovery calls, understand business objectives, gather requirements, and advise on web strategy and best practices
• Project scoping & planning — define scope, timelines, budgets and success metrics; break complex requests into clear development tasks in Asana, ClickUp or Trello
• Team collaboration & oversight — work with designers and developers, translate client feedback into actionable tasks, and run final reviews before handoff
• Quality assurance — QA across devices, browsers and user flows so everything shipped is polished, on-brand and functional
• Consultation & improvement — stay current on web design, UX, SEO and digital marketing, and recommend improvements that help clients grow

What we're looking for

• Experience managing or consulting on website projects, preferably in an agency environment
• Strong understanding of WordPress and common web technologies (HTML, CSS, JS)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Familiarity with project management tools (Asana, ClickUp, Trello, etc.)
• Ability to write clear scopes, timelines and client-friendly documentation
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to run multiple projects at once
• Comfort working with designers and developers to turn strategy into execution
• Basic understanding of SEO, UX and accessibility principles

Bonus skills

Page builders like Bricks or Elementor, WooCommerce and ecommerce workflows, wireframing or design (Figma, Adobe XD), copywriting or content strategy, analytics tools (GA4, Hotjar), and funnel or conversion rate optimisation.

The ideal candidate is a tech-savvy communicator and strategic thinker who thrives in a collaborative environment — someone who enjoys solving problems, keeping projects on track, and guiding clients toward the best version of their online presence.

About this application

This is the first stage of our application process. It covers how you handle clients, how you scope and run projects, your QA instincts, and your grounding in web, SEO and UX fundamentals. Set aside about 40–60 minutes and answer honestly. There are no trick questions, we just want to understand how you think and how you work. Rushed or vague answers will reflect in your evaluation.
