The Hidden Hardship Survey

The Hidden Hardship survey is a community‑driven initiative created to expose the realities of living on Ontario Works. It gathers firsthand experiences about food insecurity, housing instability, health access, debt, and dignity — the everyday struggles that rarely make it into official reports.

By collecting this information directly from recipients, we’re building evidence that shows how policy gaps translate into real‑world hardship. These insights help advocates, caseworkers, and policymakers understand what’s working, what’s failing, and where urgent change is needed.

Every response adds to a clearer picture of life on OW — not just numbers, but voices. This data will guide community programs, inform advocacy efforts, and strengthen the push for a more humane and effective social support system.
