Wildlife Arts* is looking for young artists to illustrate our new wildlife trading cards. Our trading cards teach kids and families about our local wildlife species—plants and animals. Our organization, which is volunteer-led, gives them out free to children in local public schools, at our events, and through our partner organinzations. Many teen artists have illustrated our series of trading cards produced over the last ten years. Any 2D medium may be used by the artist(s) selected for the illustration. All cards produced in 2026 will be in both Spanish and English.
For this commission, we are actively seeking residents of Somerville and Cambridge who are at least 14 years old and under 23 years old to illustrate the new trading cards.
We would like to see a portfolio of your best original creative artwork that shows your strengths and your range. You can submit a link to an online portfolio below, or email images to us at wildlife@greencambridge.org.
A handful of new trading card artists will be chosen for the 2026 cards. If selected, you will be provided with information and photographs of the local species of plant or animal we would like you to illustrate and tell you a few general guidelines. Once you provide a draft, we will dicuss it with you, and then give you a deadline for completing the final work. Within two weeks of completing and submitting the assignment, you will receive a commission of $125 for one illustration.
