Cycling Safari

This is a 15-day cycling and safari adventure through Kenya, and TBH, there's nothing else like it. You'll pedal through the Maasai Mara on red dirt roads with giraffes popping in and out of the acacia trees, make your way through Tsavo via train to meet the women of Zawadisha, and finish with a well-earned cocktail on the white sand beaches of Diani.

This isn't your typical safari where you gaze at wildlife through binoculars from a Land Cruiser (although that's pretty fun too). You're in it.

The trip is led by Jen Gurecki, founder of Zawadisha and Far Out, in partnership with Savage Wilderness Safaris, a family-run operation with 20+ years of guiding in Kenya. It's built for a maximum of 12 women, non-binary, and trans participants, and it's structured so that no matter your cycling level, you finish. We want you to feel good, so we offer e-bike rentals and a support vehicle so that this trip meets you where you are, not the other way around.

What makes this trip different from just about every other group adventure you've almost booked is that it is connected to real communities. Your two rest days land you in the heart of rural Kenya, weaving, dancing, and sharing a meal over broken English with the women Zawadisha. It means you're not a tourist stopping in for a photo op, you're actually part of a micro-lending model that has been changing the lives of Kenyan women for over a decade. Past participants say it's the part of the trip that stays with them longest. We agree.
