Fashion as a Cognitive Tool: The Neuroscience of Personal Style

Welcome!

About the Class
This two-session seminar explores how the brain processes aesthetics and how clothing shapes cognition, emotion, and identity. Drawing from neuroaesthetics, fashion psychology, and cultural theory, we’ll examine why certain styles feel “authentic,” how taste forms, and how personal style functions as a cognitive and emotional tool. Students will engage with short readings, guided conversations, and a creative reflection exercise to connect scientific concepts to their own aesthetic choices. No prior background in neuroscience or fashion required.
