Help Shape the 2027 State of Newsletters

It's that time of year! We're working on beehiiv's 2027 State of Newsletters Report, and we want to hear from the people building the newsletter industry about where it's heading, what's working, and what's not.

We're especially interested in hearing from established publishers who have grown audiences of 10,000+ subscribers and are experimenting with new ways to grow, engage, and earn revenue. If you have a compelling story or insight to share, we'd love to hear it.

Share specific experiences, surprising results, lessons learned, and bold predictions. Submissions close November 30, 2026.

We are collecting survey data. Responding does not guarantee a place in our publication.

Estimated time: 5–7 minutes.

Your experience and outlook

1. What changed the most about your newsletter business in 2026?

Tell us about a specific decision, experiment, or turning point. What prompted it, what happened, and what would you do differently?

2. What are you building beyond the newsletter, and how does email fit into the bigger picture?

Think video, podcasts, events, communities, products, or other channels. What connects these parts of your business, and which have proven most valuable?

3. What's one surprising thing you've learned about growing and keeping an audience?

Share a real example of a growth channel, partnership, format, or retention strategy that exceeded—or fell short of—your expectations. Include numbers if possible.

4. How has your approach to earning revenue through your newsletter evolved in 2026?

What monetization strategies have you experimented with, and which have delivered the strongest results? Tell us about a specific success, failure, or unexpected lesson. We'd especially love to hear how you're thinking about revenue growth in 2027.

5. What's one commonly accepted piece of newsletter advice you disagree with?

We want your strongest informed take. What do publishers misunderstand or overvalue, and what have you experienced that challenges the conventional wisdom?

6. Where do you see the biggest opportunity in newsletters and independent media over the next 12–24 months?

Be specific. What emerging behavior, business model, technology, niche, or distribution shift do you think publishers are overlooking? Why now?
