Founding AI Systems Engineer

We’re building Rewear — AI-powered commerce infrastructure for fashion resale in Africa.

We’re looking for an engineer to help us build intelligent systems that power conversations, operations, discovery, and automation across Rewear, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

Today, informal commerce in Africa runs manually through DMs, screenshots, voice notes, and scattered workflows. We want to build the AI layer that structures and automates that ecosystem.

Responsibilities

- Build conversational AI systems for buyers and sellers - Design AI agents that automate marketplace operations - Build persistent memory systems and behavioral/user graphs - Create workflows across WhatsApp, Instagram & Rewear - Implement recommendation and semantic search systems - Build orchestration pipelines for autonomous commerce operations - Work closely with product and engineering to shape Rewear’s AI infrastructure

Skills & Experience

- Strong backend engineering skills - Experience building with LLMs and AI agents - Experience with embeddings, RAG, vector search, and memory systems - Experience shipping real AI products or workflows - Strong product thinking and conversational UX understanding - Ability to move quickly and work independently
