Constructive program is one of the most important features of a nonviolent movement. Instead of focusing on what doesn't work, we create opportunities to build and experiment with what does work (or might work better). This is the aspect of nonviolence where we "build the alternative" so that when we engage in nonviolent resistance (and often good constructive programs cannot be ignored by the powers that be, making nonviolent resistance often necessary), we are prepared for what's next, and find ourselves well-resourced within ourselves and in our communities.
