GIS Consultant and Community Educator (Limited Term Contract)

This role involves up to four hands-on GIS/mapping sessions (online and in-person, at two sites in NE and SW Portland) plus backend support between sessions. This short application asks a few screening questions and enables upload of your resume and a brief note about your experience.

This is a contract engagement of up to 28 hours, anticipated to begin Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and to conclude no later than October 31, 2026, when the current grant-funded program period ends. Are you able to complete this work within that window?

Because this role involves work with youth in Portland Public Schools-connected settings, the selected consultant must successfully complete the Portland Public Schools volunteer background-check process and any applicable youth-safety clearance requirements before beginning youth-facing services. This engagement requires the consultant to plan and facilitate accessible, hands-on introductory GIS/mapping learning activities for participants with varied levels of technical experience.

Please describe up to two examples in which you taught, facilitated, trained, coached, or translated GIS, mapping, data, digital tools, or another technical subject for non-specialists.
For each example, identify:
1. The audience and setting;
2. The topic/tool and your role;
3. How you made the content accessible;
