Two ways to take part. Which are you applying for?
A — Residency (full two-week commitment)
For people who can commit to the whole program. You live and build in Kesennuma from Monday 28 September to Sunday 11 October, working alongside the other residents and local participants. The first few days are for orientation, briefings from Kesennuma City staff, and fieldwork, before development starts on 2 October.
Accommodation: provided by us for the full period.
Places: limited — applicants are selected.
B — Remote participation (final weekend on site)
Open to anyone. You join online from 28 September — we'll share as much of what the on-site participants are learning as we can — and develop remotely once the hackathon starts on 2 October. The mid-point check-in on 4 October is held online. You then come to Kesennuma for the finish: Saturday 10 October is a full day of work on site, ending with the presentations and reception.
Travel and accommodation: at your own expense. Kesennuma is a long trip from Tokyo — around [4–5] hours door to door — so plan to arrive on Friday 9 October and leave on Sunday 11 October, booking two nights (9 and 10 October) yourself.
