Apply to edit @limmytalks

$35/hour for an editor

I'm looking for a talented short-form editor for my Instagram, @limmytalks. The videos follow a repeatable style, but I want someone with strong taste, initiative, and ideas for making them better. The expected workload is roughly 3 videos per day, usually 1.5–2 hours total per day, with occasional additional work. Compensation starts at $35/hour; we may move to a per-video rate if that works better for both sides.
The test edit below is the most important part of the application. Credentials don't matter! I'm looking for editing skill, judgment, agency, and drive only.

Test edit

Download the raw video below and turn it into the strongest finished vertical short you can. Use as much or as little of the footage as you think makes the best video.
Some suggestions (FEEL FREE TO ADD YOUR OWN TWIST TO IT):
- Cut all failed/repeated takes and use the last clean take.
- Remove every non-speaking gap; dialogue should feel continuous and crisp.
- Use jump cuts, punch-ins, and zooms where they improve energy.
- Open with the most shocking specific detail in the first 1–2 seconds.
- Add relevant proof/screenshots as overlays when a claim can be shown visually; keep the speaker's eyes and mouth clear.
- Use TikTok Classic-style captions: white with black outline, 1–2 word Bounce Out chunks; keep captions clear of source text.
- Use colored, slightly angled text for the most surprising facts in the hook.
- Use restrained sound effects only on meaningful edit events.
- If schools/results are mentioned, use clear green Accepted, red Rejected, and gray/yellow Waitlisted labels, revealing them in sync with narration; logos/campus cutaways are welcome when useful.
