Electrical System Engineer (all genders)

Full-Time · Munich/Berlin, Hybrid
We are looking for a Power Electronics / Electrical Systems Engineer to develop, prototype, and test the core electrical architectures that bring our aircraft to life. This is a hands-on, systems-level role — bridging design, simulation, and real-world readiness at the forefront of aerospace and power innovation.

At NEX Aero, we are building the next generation of heavy-duty cargo drones — designed for missions where reliability, resilience, and reach are everything.

YOUR MISSION/RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design and characterize advanced electrical architectures tailored for long-range cargo drone systems
-Specify and size key electrical protections to meet rigorous safety and certification standards
-Evaluate powertrain performance at both system and unit levels — across batteries, controllers, and propulsion components
-Simulate, test, and validate critical electrical systems: e-motors, HV batteries, motor controllers, and hydrogen fuel cell integrations
-Define and implement high-integrity test procedures using in-house equipment
-Prototype power electronics hardware, including Power Distribution Units and DC-DC Converters
-Collaborate with industrial and academic partners to accelerate technology validation and implementation

YOUR PROFILE

- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
-2–3 years of experience in multidisciplinary engineering (electrical, thermal, mechanical), ideally from concept to prototype to lab testing
-A background in electric vehicles, aerospace, or robotics is a strong advantage
-Proven track record in end-to-end system execution with rapid iteration and learning cycles
-A critical thinker who thrives on building smart, real-world systems
-Committed to speed, safety, and ethical engineering — no trade-offs where it matters most
-Strong communication skills and fluency in English (German or other languages are a plus)

If you're ready to power the systems that will shape the future of aviation, we’d love to hear from you! 🚀

Anything else we should know?

We build systems for the real world — and we believe the best ones come from teams that think differently, challenge assumptions, and reflect the diversity of the world they serve.

Who We Are - NEX Aero

At NEX Aero, we are redefining how critical cargo moves across the world. We design, build, and operate next-generation heavy-duty drones capable of reaching places traditional logistics can’t — connecting remote communities, enabling urgent healthcare deliveries, and strengthening supply chains in a changing world.

Based in Berlin and Munich, we are an ambitious team of engineers, operators, and innovators working hands-on at the intersection of aerospace, clean technology, and logistics. Our work moves beyond prototypes — it creates real-world impact where reliability, reach, and resilience matter most.

At NEX Aero, you won’t just build systems. You’ll help unlock access, progress, and opportunity for industries and communities worldwide.
