Founding Engineer New York City · In-Person

Rubi is building the AI operating system for private market investment teams. We turn unstructured deal materials CIMs, data rooms, emails, meeting notes into a structured intelligence layer that powers screening, diligence, benchmarking, and investment decisions. Rubi is already live inside top-tier private equity firms and is being used on real deals with real capital at stake. Demand is growing faster than we can build. We are looking for a Founding Engineer in New York City to help us scale the core product, infrastructure, and intelligence engine that sits at the center of modern private market workflows. This is a true zero-to-one engineering role with ownership, autonomy, and direct exposure to customers making billion-dollar decisions.
Why Engineering Matters at Rubi
Rubi is not a demo tool or a side experiment. Our output is used in live investment processes. Accuracy, trust, and speed are non-negotiable. Every system you design affects how firms evaluate risk, price deals, and allocate capital. Engineering at Rubi is product, data, and customer impact combined. You will work closely with the founder, design, and customers to build a system that becomes the source of truth for deal intelligence.
About the Role
As Rubi’s Founding Engineer, you will own major parts of the product and architecture while shaping the long-term technical foundation of the company. You will build across the stack, make core architectural decisions, and help define what great engineering looks like at Rubi.
In this role, you will:
• Own and evolve core backend systems for document ingestion, parsing, and structured data extraction  • Build and scale AI pipelines using LLMs, retrieval systems, and learning loops • Design data models that turn messy deal materials into reliable, queryable intelligence  • Collaborate closely on frontend workflows that feel fast, trusted, and analyst-grade  • Improve performance, reliability, and observability across the platform  • Work directly with leadership to define technical roadmap and architecture  • Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, correctness, and scalability  • Set the engineering bar for quality, velocity, and ownership As Rubi grows, this role can evolve into:
• Technical Leadership: Leading the engineering team and architecture decisions  • Platform Ownership: Owning major product surfaces or core systems  • AI Systems Depth: Driving next-generation learning loops, benchmarking, and intelligence models We’d Love to Meet You If
You are a strong backend or full-stack engineer who loves building real systems
 • You have experience with complex data systems, distributed services, or AI-driven products
 • You care deeply about correctness, reliability, and user trust
 • You write clean, maintainable code and move quickly without cutting corners
 • You are comfortable operating with ambiguity and high expectations
 • You want ownership, not tickets
 • You are based in New York City and want to work in person
 • You care about product quality and user experience as much as technical elegance
Compensation
Competitive salary ($160,000–$210,000)  Meaningful equity (1–3%)  Real ownership and long-term upside
