Founding Engineer, Digital Health Startup ⭐️
Position: founding engineer.
Company: digital health startup in stealth mode.
Location: US remote with occasional travel. Founders are based in California.
Compensation: equity-based, with a base salary upon funding.
Our mission is to help people optimize their health and prevent chronic disease. We are building a product that leverages AI to monitor 360° health data to help people understand and manage their health holistically.
The team is led by two co-founders - medical and technical, with backgrounds from Harvard, Oxford, Google, and Meta. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced technology professional to take on the role of Founding Engineer, with an option to transition to a CTO role later.
1. Define and execute the company's technical vision.
2. Own the foundation of the technical org, make key architecture decisions, set up best practices for software development, quality, data security, and privacy.
3. Design and build the core technology and applications powering the product, focusing on AI, ML ops, and backend, including data management systems and data analysis tools.
4. Design and build the infrastructure, including project management processes, solving performance and reliability issues, and building data and CI/CD pipelines.
5. Recruit, mentor, and lead a technical team.
1. Software engineering, health informatics, or related technical background, with at least 5-7 years of experience.
2. Expertise in building, training and deploying ML models and backend systems end-to-end, ideally, in the healthcare and/or consumer health space.
3. Ability to design, build, and deploy complex software systems and applications involving parts of our tech stack: Django, iOS, Docker, K8s, Cloud Backend, CI/CD, GitHub.
4. An appreciation of the strict regulatory and data privacy requirements for healthcare products.
5. Comfortable with ambiguity and can create a structure where needed.
6. Self-driven builder, who sets an example of effective, fast-paced execution.
7. Quick learner and effective decision-maker with a high degree of ownership.
8. Previous early-stage startup experience is a plus.
