Organization: FinUA.org — Legal support for Ukrainians in Finland
About Us FinUA is a nonprofit community providing legal support to Ukrainians navigating life in Finland. We support thousands of people each month through our volunteer-driven legal consultations. We're now building out our own data analysis pipelines to understand needs better, streamline legal consultations, and provide more effective support.
What You’ll Do
As our volunteer Data Scientist, you’ll help us move from manual reviews to automated insight. You’ll be in charge of building the foundation of how we collect, analyze, and streamline cases for our volunteer lawyers. You’ll work closely with our leadership team, legal coordinators, and tech volunteers.
Key responsibilities:
1. Design and build our data pipeline (using Supabase, Notion data sources)
2. Analyze cases, legal question trends, and decrease volunteer load
3. Help establish ethical data practices and privacy-safe approaches
1. Strong background in data science, analytics, or machine learning (NLP preferred)
2. Experience with SQL and Python
3. Ability to work independently
4. Passion for social impact and access to justice a big plus
1. A leadership role in a growing, high-impact legal nonprofit
2. A chance to shape how data helps real people — not ad clicks
3. Flexibility to work when you can — we're volunteer-first and remote-friendly
4. A network of like-minded legal experts, tech professionals, and community organizers
5. Recognition on our website and in reports (if you like the spotlight)
